MAIDS is Midwest Disco.

Midwest disco kings, MAIDS, have released their debut EP These Days on indie label Station 1 Records.  The EP was co-produced by St. Lucia’s Ross Clark and features a blend of nostalgic, beat-driven synth pop (a la Nu Shooz or Arthur Russell) and indie-dance tracks.  The band plans to release a full-length album produced by Clark in fall 2016.

MAIDS’ Danny Heggen and Mickey Davis decided to feature 5 songs on the EP, including the breakout video single “Do This Better”.  Producer Ross Clark says “Our mutual taste led us towards modern dance music juxtaposed with classic pop idioms from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. The music took shape quickly. Groove, texture and beautiful melodies. I couldn’t be happier with the result.”

I think this EP marks a significant shift towards finding our sound and what makes our music distinctly ours. We’ve found passion in bringing people together to have a good time,” says MAIDS Mickey Davis, while Heggen weighs in with similar sentiment: “These songs are a result of trying to balance love and day jobs and then all of our ambitions for music. It takes a lot of patience and focus to be present. But I think these songs make it easy to drop everything and just be. That’s how it felt writing them. That’s how it feels performing them. I hope that’s how it feels listening to them.
